This international company provides a range of business services including hygiene and pest control solutions.

The company was planning to refresh a large portion of its devices with Google Chromebooks for mobile workers and Chromebox for office staff to increase end-user productivity and reduce the overall cost of purchasing expensive desktops and laptops.

To enable this and to provide users with the applications and services they required, the client made a strategic decision to upgrade to the latest version of Citrix XenApp. One of the main drivers was to unlock some of the new features in XenApp that enabled delivery of Windows based applications to ChromeOS, and to support the recently released Receiver for Chrome.

The client approached Ensyst to undertake the design and implementation of Citrix XenApp and NetScaler for their Australian business users.  This included an application assessment to determine suitability of each application on the Citrix XenApp platform with ChromeOS, and the ability to deliver apps and data securely to both internal and external users.

Ensyst was selected due to its status as a Gold Citrix partner and proven capability to deliver the overall solution leveraging the Citrix solution portfolio.


Ensyst implemented a Citrix XenApp 7.6 deployment with a highly available NetScaler and StoreFront instance within the Sydney Data Centre.  The solution incorporated Provisioning Services to automate the server build process and Universal Profile Management to ensure session stability.

End-users now have greater device choice, and this program supports the client’s strategy to deploy Google device technology globally.

In addition to greater device choice, end-users can now access applications and data from anywhere on any network connection.  Executives and employees who want to use personal devices to work from home now have the freedom to do so.  This has resulted in increased end user satisfaction, increased productivity and improved employee retention.

The job of IT support staff is also much easier with the introduction of Citrix Provisioning Services.  Rather than manually updating each individual Citrix XenApp server with a new application or patch, IT now makes the change on one Gold Image and replicates the change to other servers in the farm via a simple reboot.  From a configuration standpoint, this also delivers a consistent experience to all end users regardless of which Citrix XenApp server they utilise to access applications.
