Business size: 1600 staff, 700 volunteers
Business sector: Not for profit
Technology: Azure platform
An independent, non-religious, not-for-profit organisation, this charity delivers services from 80+ locations across New South Wales, the ACT and Queensland.
Before selecting Optus via their Cloud specialist company Ensyst as their chosen transformation partner, the charity had been challenged by limited disaster recovery, a flat network structure and the use of private cloud, which was flexible but expensive.
As a leading specialist in Microsoft Cloud solutions, Ensyst an Optus company was selected to partner the organisation on this major transformation project.
Following detailed consultation, Ensyst helped the charity develop and deploy a hybrid cloud model, using Azure, moving away from their existing private IaaS consumption-based model.
Hybrid cloud is now used for Dev/User Acceptance Testing/Test workloads, with disaster recovery configured to failover to Azure. The organisation also benefited from a network re-structure, including an Express Route, and enhanced security through network segmentation.
The new solution provided the charity with a secure platform at a compelling price and improved security/disaster recovery capabilities by leveraging the features within the Azure platform.
They continue to benefit from improved recovery time objective/recovery point objective and cost saving gained by using HUB and Reserved Instances.
