Located west of the Sydney CBD, this local government organisation covers a large and rapidly growing outer metropolitan area with a population of more than 180,000.
The Council was planning a major transformation of its IT infrastructure, including infrastructure rationalisation, modernisation of existing technologies and a move to a cloud-centric infrastructure.
The objectives of this transformation were to eliminate the requirement to house infrastructure in the head office data centre, improve the resilience of IT systems and reduce future IT costs.
The Council had decided on Microsoft’s software as a service (SaaS) cloud services – Office 365, Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) to reduce overall operational costs and risks, whilst also increasing business productivity and agility.
As a leading specialist in Microsoft Cloud solutions, Ensyst was selected to partner the Council on this major transformation.
Ensyst worked closely with the Council’s IT team to understand the current IT platform and potential challenges, then to map out a vision for the future state of hybrid cloud. In partnership with the Council IT team, Ensyst deployed the hybrid cloud architecture and migrated services to the new environment.
To enable the Council IT team to manage and operate the environment in future, Ensyst worked in partnership with the team, focusing on transferring the necessary skills and knowledge.
