Business issue

An education-to-employment service, connecting customers to services to help them obtain a qualification, become job ready and then secure meaningful employment.

Following a period of rapid growth, the organisation wanted to transform the way IT desktop services were delivered to users, providing a more flexible, secure and dynamic platform with enhanced mobility and productivity while also allowing IT to manage and apply security.

The organisation had more than 600 PC’s in locations throughout Australia, but lacking a centralised management solution, the IT department was unable to effectively manage these devices.  Without the latest security patches and virus and spyware definitions, the devices presented a potential risk to the integrity of the environment. There was also no centralised solution for authentication and authorisation, limiting the organisation’s ability to effectively manage the environment and provide access to resources.  This placed a high management overhead on the IT department.

The organisation wanted to take advantage of the Cloud to address some of these challenges, to reduce their upfront investment and also future-proof the solution. Working in conjunction with Microsoft, Ensyst proposed the implementation of Azure Active Directory Premium to provide cloud-based authentication and authorisation, and Windows Intune for the management of end point devices.


After a successful pilot, Ensyst (in conjunction with the organisation’s IT team) deployed the solution to the wider organisation achieving dramatic improvements in service and staff productivity, and reductions in the number of incidents raised with the Service Desk.

The Microsoft Cloud has delivered a number of key benefits to the organisation:

  • Staff no longer waiting for applications to be installed – self-service access to download certified applications
  • Self-service password resets
  • Remote control capabilities to assist with IT support activities
