This regulatory authority aims to protect the long-term interests of Victoria’s community with respect to price, quality, reliability and fair competition.
The organisation was hampered in its mission by ageing infrastructure, both on-premise and in a private cloud. Flexibility was limited and an upgrade was going to be too costly. The organisation also needed better cost control.
Disaster recovery and fault tolerance capabilities were inadequate and untested, and the organisation was looking for a solution to help support a mission-critical document management system that ran on an out-dated operating system and structured query language (SQL) versions.
Security, flexibility, agility and visibility were the key aims of the long-term solution they sought.
Microsoft’s Azure platform was selected to provide a secure, flexible, agile infrastructure platform, enabling the private cloud platform to be retired.
Ensyst designed and deployed the platform, then migrated across their business-critical apps and data. The document management system was also migrated to Azure, upgraded and reconfigured for high availability.
At the same time, historical backups and legacy data were migrated to Azure storage for secure retention, also offering cost savings.
Today the organisation has visibility of usage and consumption costs through the PAYG model, together with the flexibility to scale up and down as required.
Disaster Recovery is extended to all critical services (utilising Azure Site Recovery) and security, compliance and governance tools, native to the Azure platform, are being leveraged to great effect.
Cost and time efficiencies have been realised, freeing the IT team to focus on more innovative projects.
